Dr. Martha Casamalhuapa

Board-Certified Pediatrician & Founder of Casa Pediatrics, Casa Pediatrics 2, Casa Pediatrics Urgent Care & Casa Wellness

Dr. Martha Casamalhuapa is a board-certified pediatrician and the founder of Casa Pediatrics, Casa Pediatrics 2, Casa Pediatrics Urgent Care, and Casa Wellness. Born and raised in El Salvador, she grew up in a family where education, perseverance, and service were deeply valued. Her mother, who helds  PhD in Chemistry, inspired her love of science, while her father, an engineer, instilled in her the importance of hard work, discipline, and determination.

Her passion for pediatrics began long before medical school. As a child and young teenager in El Salvador, Dr. Casamalhuapa served as a translator for American medical missions visiting her community.  Those early encounters helped shape her desire to become a physician and ultimately dedicate her career to caring for children.

Dr. Casamalhuapa attended the Latin American School of Medicine (Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina) in Cuba, where she earned her medical degree. She later moved to New York and completed her pediatric residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center.

In 2015, Dr. Casamalhuapa founded Casa Pediatrics with a simple but meaningful vision: to create a pediatric practice where families would feel welcomed, heard, and cared for as if they were part of a family.

That vision has continued to grow. She later founded Casa Pediatrics 2 in Fairfax, expanding access to primary pediatric care, as well as Casa Pediatrics Urgent Care, created to provide families with convenient access to high-quality care during evenings and weekends when traditional medical offices are often closed.

Recognizing that children’s well-being extends far beyond their physical health, Dr. Casamalhuapa also founded Casa Wellness, expanding Casa’s mission to include behavioral, developmental, and emotional health services. Most recently, she has incorporated comprehensive evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder, with the goal of helping children receive an earlier diagnosis and timely access to the therapies, resources, and support they need to thrive.

Despite the continued growth of Casa, Dr. Casamalhuapa remains deeply connected to the reason she chose pediatrics in the first place: the privilege of caring for children and supporting the families who raise them.

Outside of medicine, she loves traveling, spending time with her family, discovering new places and cultures—and she is always ready to dance to some good salsa music.
